Cameroon versus Nigeria: Buhari responds to 1-1 draw in Yaounde
President Muhammadu Buhari has approached Nigerians to praise the Super Eagles, following their 1-1 draw with Cameroon, in a 2018 World Cup qualifying diversion on Monday in Yaounde.
Buhari posted a photo of himself watching the diversion on TV and tweeted: "How about we commend our Super Eagles, holding Cameroon to a draw in Yaoundé. The walk to #Russia2018 continues, and they have all our help!"
The Eagles survived early weight, before they led the pack through Simon Moses, who lashed in on a free ball.
Nigeria misused a few opportunities to twofold the lead, before goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa fouled Djoum Arnaud inside the range.
The official pointed to the spot and Vincent Aboubacar kept his nerves to make it 1-1 with 15 minutes left.
The outcome sees the Eagles remain best of Group with 10 points, while Zambia who play Algeria on Tuesday are second with four points.
