Blood of retired people not on my head – Okorocha
The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha on Tuesday said the blood of a few retired people who passed on while sitting tight for their benefits was not on his head.
This claim was contained in an announcement in Owerri, the state capital by Okorocha's Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo.
The representative likewise guaranteed that he found six hundred and fifty million naira, benefits check extortion and that thirty people had been captured regarding the misrepresentation.
As indicated by him, "Around thirty (30) Pension Board Staff have been given over to the Personnel of Directorate of Security Services (DSS) over grand misrepresentation managed in Pension Checks adding up to N650 million naira.
"The Checks being referred to are 92 with some of them containing N10 million or more. It was found that one individual could have three or four Checks written in his or her name and a large portion of the names non-Pensioners and the sums in the Checks all in millions.
"Inciting the senator to summon a meeting after a preparatory examination with the key Pension Board Staff in participation, and Pensioners from the 8 assigned Local Governments for installment.
"Okorocha was not cheerful that "Before giving over the speculated Pension Board Staff to security specialists, the blood of Pensioners who had passed on without their Pensions would be on their heads.
"A portion of the Senior Pension Board Staff included have lodgings in Owerri, Aba and Delta State, while two of them have lodging homes, and said they would be made to confront the full anger of the law."
