Trump is pulling the U.S. from Paris Agreement

President Trump announced his decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement on climate change Thursday afternoon.

Trump, who has dismissed climate change as a hoax, made the announcement that he will start the process of removing the U.S. from the international climate accord to limit the increase in average global temperature to below 2°C.
“The United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord. Thanks you, but begin negotiations to re-enter either the Paris accord or an entirely new transaction on terms that are fair to the United States, its businesses, its workers, its people, its taxpayers — so we’re getting out,” he said in the White House Rose Garden at 3 p.m.
Trump touted the decision as yet another example of him carrying through on his campaign promises. He said the U.S. will start negotiating with other countries to see if they can broker a deal that he considers fair.
He criticized the climate accord as another example of an agreement that Washington enters that disadvantages the American people.
“I am fighting every day for the great people of this country,” he said.
